The Story about this TAC Claim

Prior to his transport accident Alan worked on a part time basis at two different positions. One as a school sports teacher and the other on an administrative basis in a family business. Alan was involved in sports his whole life to the point where he also had some professional experience. Suffice to say he loved his work and was still regularly involved in various sporting activities with his peers. He was a member of a number of clubs and social groups.

Unfortunately Alan was involved in a transport accident in early 2016 which has completely changed his lifestyle.  Alan suffered from a lower back injury which eventually needed surgery.

Alan was no longer active in his social clubs and has had to give up a number of hobbies.  Alan tried very hard to rehabilitate and get back to his pre-accident duties and lifestyle. He even tried returning to work but was not able to cope.

Alan and his wife came to our office approximately 1 year after the accident seeking advice and assistance. They understood at that point that Alan’s injuries are likely permanent and that Alan would not return to work.

We commenced preparation and work on Alan’s file immediately. After a short period we obtained a serious injury certificate (permission to seek compensation) and organised an informal conference with the TAC. At the conference with the TAC we presented Alan’s situation and the consequences flowing from the accident. The TAC accepted most points made but, in our view, offered compensation at the lower range of fair value.

We advised Alan to hold off on accepting the offer and let us put a firm final position to the TAC. The offer was one which was in the higher range.  Alan accepted our advice, and after some time the TAC also accepted the offer.
