Lawyer – Business Manager – TPD

Business Manager – TPD

  • Total and Permanent Disability Business Manager/Lawyer role.
  • 12 – month contract.
  • Flexible/hybrid work arrangements available.

Our law firm was established to serve the needs of Australians when faced with personal injury. As a part of our service, we are focussed on optimising Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) benefits for our clients who are unable to work due to an illness or injury while they focus on their well-being.

Most Australians regularly contribute to their Superannuation fund throughout their working years. TPD insurance is a standard component in most superannuation policies, however many have limited to no knowledge of the entitlements to which they are owed in the unfortunate event of a permanent injury or illness.

With over four decades of experience collectively, our team have successfully managed numerous insurance claims. We possess a profound understanding of Total and Permanent Disability benefits associated with superannuation insurance, cultivated through years of representing individuals across a variety of compensation and common law systems.

We are seeking a business-minded legal professional to take the reins of our Total and Permanent Disability practice area. Ideally, you will be a high-energy, entrepreneurial individual who possesses both legal qualification and business management skills.

The business will market at first in Victoria, with the mindset to eventually expand nationally. And it will focus solely on seeking disability lump sum payments from insurance companies.

A financial interest in the venture is available based on performance.

Being a newly created role, activities will include but not be limited to:

  • You will be responsible for the growth and management of the TPD portfolio, including related business activity.
  • Focus will begin in the state of Victoria with the view to expand services to all Australian jurisdictions.
  • The head office is based in Melbourne but candidates from other states are welcome to apply.
  • The candidate will manage the productivity of the business with the full support of the stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with our HR management, you will recruit a team of support staff and manage training and development with our training personnel.
  • You will have full-spectrum carriage of your own files and ability to delegate files.
  • The candidate is expected to take on new and established cases and run them from inception to settlement with their newly created support team.
  • This position should be of particular interest to candidates who are experienced in Plaintiff personal injury law and enjoy the litigation aspect.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience working for Plaintiffs as a lawyer in the personal injury sector, with a current Practising Certificate from the Victorian Legal Services Board & Commissioner.
  • Experience with TPD and insurance matters is essential.
  • Knowledge of personal injury law pertaining to TAC, WorkCover, Medical Negligence and Public Liability.
  • Experience in business management is highly desirable.
  • Build and effectively manage relationships with team and key contacts.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good investigation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritise and time manage multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines.

Our team prides itself on the family and work/life balance we provide all employees, and appreciates the juggle of work, study, and family responsibilities. Flexibility in hours may be considered, and a combination of work-from-home and office arrangements may also apply.

We are lucky to work in such a multi-cultural professional services sector. Therefore, a second language is a wonderful advantage to have for this role, but it is not essential. All levels of skills and experience will be considered.
