The Story about this WorkCover Claim
Michael and his sister Jenni came to see us in January 2011. Michael was a bricklayer and had suffered nasty leg fractures when he was forced to jump off a collapsing brick wall. Michael’s injury severely affected all aspects of his life, especially his ability to return to work as a bricklayer. Without his career as a bricklayer, Michael had no real job options. We asked WorkCover for certificates to allow him compensation for pain and suffering, and for loss of his ability to work. WorkCover was willing to provide only the certificate for pain and suffering. We advised Michael to persist and seek both, and he agreed.
With more time and work, we eventually delivered to Michael both certificates and compensation to reflect the change in his life.
Actual Client Testimonial
My brother and I presented ourselves to Henry Carus in 2013 after he was involved in a serious accident on a building site when a brick wall came falling down. Michael suffered quite a few injuries on that day, but his main injury was a broken femur which required numerous operations and many months of intense physiotherapy to be able to walk again. Being a bricklayer, and with the seriousness of the injury he had incurred, Michael was unable to return to his chosen field of work, and worse still, he was unable to perform his normal day to day tasks. Hence the only thing left now for Michael was to live on benefits for the rest of his days. It was mentioned to us that Michael might be entitled to some form of compensation for his accident, so with no idea of what we were looking for, we searched the internet for someone to call. There were so many different firms out there that promised this and that, and I will say it all became very confusing. Then we came across the Henry Carus + Associates website. Well we liked what we read, and Henry seemed to be just what we needed, so we decided to give him a call. (The fact that he was close by, or came to us if necessary was an added bonus). Our 1st meeting with Henry was more than we expected. Henry not only explained that Michael was definitely entitled to compensation, he explained it in a clear and concise way how we could make this happen. We left our meeting with Henry, feeling that we had indeed made the right choice in choosing Henry Carus to look after us. Dealing with WorkCover was a long and drawn out process, but Henry and his team kept us well informed with everything that was going on. Finally, WorkCover came to the party and gave Michael a small payout. Although we were quite happy with this, Henry wasn’t. He advised us that Michael was entitled to more. Pain and Suffering, and Loss of Income was something Henry felt Michael deserved as well. Henry encouraged us to let him make this happen, and we can now say we are so glad he did. We all knew it wasn’t going to be easy dealing with WorkCover, but that never fazed Henry and his team. They just kept on pushing on. It’s been a long process since we first started, but here we are in July 2015 and we can now say that our compensation claim has finally been settled. Michael received more than we expected, and we were fortunate enough to avoid having to go to court. So it was a win-win situation all round. We can’t thank Henry and his team enough for all the work, long hours and patience they have given us - but we can recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, down to earth, client focused team that give it their all and show results in the end.
