Phoebe Wan

Phoebe has been a part of the Henry Carus + Associates team since 2011. Having come to Australia in 2007 from Hangzhou, China after completing her Bachelor of Arts, Phoebe reignited her studies in her new home, completing a Masters of Translation and Interpreting at Macquarie University in Sydney.

This multilingual individual went on to work as a professional Freelance Interpreter / Translator for the major language providers in Melbourne and is certified as a Professional Translator and Professional Interpreter across English and Mandarin by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters (NAATI).

It was in this line of work that Phoebe and Henry met. While undertaking professional interpreting duties in courts, tribunals and through mediation, as well as medical setting such as clinics, hospitals, and medical boards, Phoebe met Henry during a WorkCover trial at the County Court.

Now a Member of the Institute of Legal Executives (VIC) – Associate, Phoebe has been working with senior Solicitors, Associates and Practice Group Leader in various areas of Personal Injury Law including TAC, WorkCover, Public Liability and Medical Negligence at Henry Carus + Associates since September 2011.

Outside of the office, you can find Phoebe participating in a range of extracurricular activities. Her greatest passions revolve around sport, especially soccer, yoga and Pilates (10 years advance practitioner). She was the Students Union President when studying her bachelor’s degree and held an internship as a Sport Journalist at a major newspaper and an English magazine in Hangzhou China during the 2004 Athens Olympic. Phoebe also plays two instruments – the accordion and the piano – and was once an accordion music band member in Melbourne for 4 years!

With professional aspirations that are motivated by the turn of phrase ‘don’t curse the darkness, light up a candle’, Phoebe always looks to find the positives in her very full life and is a bright light in our team.
